SNP Loch Ness

We are the Loch Ness branch of the Scottish National Party.

The Scottish National Party support Independence for Scotland:

the restoration of Scottish national sovereignty by restoration of full powers to the Scottish Parliament, so that its authority is limited only by the sovereign power of the people of Scotland

Our branch covers the Aird and Loch Ness ward of the Highland Council (ward 12).

The ward is huge, stretching from beyond the Eastern shores of Loch Ness all the way to Loch Mullardoch and Loch Monar in the West. The Northern boundary takes in the Beauly Firth while the South reaches beyond Fort Augustus. Settlements include Beauly, Drumnadrochit, Invermoriston, Fort Augustus, Dores, Foyers, Kiltarlity, Struy, Cannich and many more beautiful villages.

Despite this vast area, bigger than many small countries, we are home to just under ten thousand voters who are currently represented at all levels of government by the SNP: Councillor Emma Knox, Kate Forbes MSP, Ian Blackford MP. That representation is part of a joint administration with Independent councillors in Highland Council, as a minority government at Holyrood and could never deliver anything but minority opposition at Westminster.

Loch Ness ward hosts a vast range of businesses from traditional farming and forestry to renewable energy including hydro and wind as well as many different tourism and hospitality related businesses.
